Linda S. Heil/Decker, 64, of Augusta, died peacefully Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Capital City Manor in Augusta, Maine. She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., October 20, 1954, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth-Betty (Schreiber) Heil.

Mrs Decker was a graduate of Newtown High School, Class of 1972, and from there attended Naugatuck Community College. She married the love of her life, Russell “Russ” L. Decker, in 1980. They moved to Watertown, where they raised their son, Alan. She worked in the hardware business and at a veterinary clinic. Mrs Decker was an avid bowler and loved her arts and crafts. Always a giver of great presents, Christmas was her favorite time of year to spoil the whole lot of us! You could always count on her to be there for; you, the family, and friends...but NEVER on time. She loved playing cards and board games every Sunday with family. That was always so important to her. When her husband, Russ, of 26 years, passed away in 2006, she moved back to the family home in Newtown to help care for her mom, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. She was a real trooper, as she suffered her own battles with diabetes, heart disease, renal failure, and Parkinson’s disease. Once Mom passed, she moved to Maine to be closer to her younger sisters in 2015. She moved into Capital City Manor, an Assisted Living Facility in Augusta.

She is survived by her son, Alan Decker, of New Milford; her brothers, Alan Heil, of Mountain View, Calif., Robert Heil and his wife, Debi, of Ocala, Fla., and William Heil of Hollywood, Fla.; her sister, Catherine Heil-LaPointe, and her spouse, Frances LaPointe, of South China, Maine; her nieces and nephews, Melissa Heil, Tanya Heil, Austin Heil, and Brittany Wyatt-Heil; and a grand-niece, Jamie Heil.

Mrs Decker was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Barbara Heil and Lori Heil.

At the request of the family members, there will be no services at this time. A summer memorial will be held for immediate family and close friends.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Capital City Manor, Kennebec Kidney Center, and the Maine General Hospice for all their caring, kindness, and compassion!
