Linda M. (Matthews) Prendergast, 73, beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Prendergast of Monroe, died February 24 at St Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. She was born in Bridgeport and had been a lifelong area resident.

Survivors include nine children and their spouses, Krysten Prendergast of Newtown, Daniel and  Kelly, Robert and Carolina, Sandra and Ed Moore, David, and Michael, all of Monroe, Amy and Bill Dunn of Torrington, Kathleen Waninger of New Hampshire, and Janyce and fiancé Elijah Carroll of Massachusetts; siblings Steven Matthews, Susan Lutson, and Cindy Carriero; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, two daughters, Debra Prendergast Ciambriello and Laurie Parks; and a sister, Carol Altorelli, predeceased Mrs Prendergast.

She dedicated her life to her very cherished family and children. She was well known for her big heart, and cared for more than 200 foster children in her lifetime. She was a treasured mother, sister, and best friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
