Local Businesses Among County's 'Best' Winners

A variety of Newtown businesses were among those ranked as top choices in the recent Best of Fairfield County Reader’s Choice Poll conducted by CTNow.com. Gathered Friday, June 6, for a lunch and celebration at Barnwood Grill on Queen Street were several of the winners, which included real estate agents, hair salons, boutiques, restaurants, fitness facilities, and more.

Greeting guests was Patty Sullivan with Newtown MediSpa, which ranked as a winner in several categories. The list of winners also includes Dr Deb Bossio, Butcher’s Best, CrossFit Hook’d, Five Guys Burgers & Fries, The Inn at Newtown, Julie Allen Bridals, Kerrie Glassman, Newtown Hardware, NYA Sports & Fitness, Peachwave, Sabrina Style, Andy Sachs, Salon Michelle, and Urgent Care of Newtown.

“Newtown MediSpa is proud to be part of a strong Newtown business community and thrilled to be recognized for our work by our customers,” said MediSpa owner and Newtown resident Debra Sullivan. “It’s been one and a half years since we opened our doors and [we] feel fortunate that customers both in Newtown and all over Fairfield County and beyond have come to see us.”

Andy Sachs, who placed second in the category of Best Realtor Or Realty Company, called Newtown “a thriving community offering a variety of amenities to its townspeople.

“I couldn’t think of a better place to grow roots as a homeowner or a business owner,” he added.

Michele Schettino of Salon Michele (second place, Best Hair Salon), wanted to thank the salon clients and Newtown for being supportive. She was “honored and grateful,” she said.

Lauren Milano of CrossFit Hook’d said that they were happy and proud to have won an award, and they enjoy being part of the community.

Winners and their categories are as follows:

Dr Deb Bossio — first, Best Naturopathic Health Provider (resident, no office in Newtown);

Butcher’s Best: first, Best Health Food Store;

CrossFit Hook’d — first, Best Personal Training Program and Best Specialized Sports Academy/Facility; and second, in Best Health Club;

The Inn at Newtown — first, Best B&B;

Sabrina Style — first, Best Women’s Clothing; and third, Best Clothing Boutique;

Five Guys Burgers & Fries — second, Best Fries; and third, Best Burger;

Newtown MediSpa — second in the following categories: Best MediSpa, Best Facial, Best Laser Hair Removal, Best Massage, Best Place to be Pampered;

Andy Sachs — second, Best Realtor or Realty Company;

Julie Allen Bridals — second, Best Bridal Salon;

NYA Sports & Fitness — second, Best Specialized Sports Academy/Facility;

Salon Michele — second, Best Hair Salon;

Urgent Care of Newtown —second, Best Urgent Care Clinic;

Kerrie Glassman — third, Best Place for Physical Therapy;

Newtown Hardware— third, Best Local Hardware Store; and

Peachwave — third, Best Frozen Yogurt.
