Following the departure of Senior Center Director Marilyn Place in late December, The Newtown Bee has learned that Newtown Social Services Director Ann LoBosco and Newtown Center for Support and Wellness Director Jennifer Crane are also departing their positions in the coming weeks.

Both have said that their departures are not related to any dissatisfaction or concerns about their present duties, and both expressed gratitude for being able to serve the community and their constituents over their respective time working in Newtown.

In Ms Crane’s case, she said her departure is related to increased family demands. Her final date of employ will be February 8.

The CSW director said it was important to note that other recent staff departures and retirements “are not connected in any way to my decision to leave.”

“The holidays and the end of the year are meant for reflection and introspection,” she said. “It is bittersweet that I make the decision to leave, but I am confident it is the right time. My decision is solely based on proximity to my home and the need to be more present in my family.”

Ms Crane said that if she has “learned anything from my time in Newtown, it is that time and family are precious. The next phase in my career will allow me to create a schedule that will help me to appreciate both time and family.”

Ms LoBosco, who will be departing her post on January 18, said in a recent interview that she, too, is sorry to be leaving. However, she has been offered a “great opportunity” to take over managing a Newtown MediSpa location in Fairfield after working part-time at the Newtown location for several years.

Ms LoBosco said after seven years at the social services department, two of those years as director, she will miss working with its many constituents — particularly a number of local seniors she has gotten to know. She also previously worked in the local Town Clerk’s office for five years.

Jennifer Crane, director of Newtown’s Center for Support and Wellness, is departing to work closer to home due to family demands. She recently submitted her resignation.
Ann LoBosco, who has headed the local Social Services Department for the last two of her seven years there, has resigned from that position. Ms LoBosco is planning to take on the management of a Fairfield affiliate of Newtown MediSpa.
