Louis H. Durand, 82, of Brookfield, formerly of Ridgefield, died May 10. He was born in New York City March 2, 1931.

His wife of 58 years, Arlene K. Durand; daughters Cynthia D. Carroll of Newtown and Mary D. Edmond of Brookfield, and their spouses, Steve and Bob; four grandchildren; a sister, Marie Forger, and brother, F. Thomas Durand; and best friends Mario and Evelyn Di Lorenzo survive Mr Durand.

He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1950 and was a star athlete. He served as a corporal in the US Army during the Korean conflict.

Mr Durand worked as a carpenter. He enjoyed the Yankees, the NY Giants, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

A memorial Mass and celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
