Singer-songwriter Lucy Kaplansky headlined an evening of music at Newtown Meeting House on November 4, and the Flagpole Radio Cafe Orchestra opened the night with a number of songs.

The Flagpole Radio Cafe Orchestra songs performed included "It Don't Mean A Thing If You Ain't Got That Swing," "This Heart of Mine," and "I'm Going Back to Old Kentucky."

Flagpole Radio Cafe Orchestra's Francine Wheeler said between songs, "It's so nice to sing and play in Newtown, our town." She added that it was also nice to have the support of all of those in attendance.

In addition to Ms Wheeler, the group's members also include Jim Allyn, Rick Brodsky, Howie Bujese, Greg Burrows, and Richard Neal.

While just a few people made their way to the upper level of the historic building, the seats on the main floor were packed for the special event.

David Wheeler, who acted as the emcee for the event, introduced Ms Kaplansky before she performed, saying she is "one of the most in demand harmony singers in the business."

Ms Kaplansky performed a number of her own songs and began her portion of the evening by singing "The Bonnie Banks O' Loch Lomond."

CDs were available for purchase at the event, and a limited number of Flagpole Radio Cafe Orchestra posters were available with signatures from band members.
