The second annual Mad Dash adventure race will be held on Saturday, June 8, at Fairfield Hills. Hosted by the Newtown Youth Academy and Newtown Parks & Recreation, and sponsored by Danbury Orthopedics, the Mad Dash offers participants the ultimate in fitness adventure.

Participants will run, jump, crawl, carry, and climb their way through scenic Fairfield Hills campus, utilizing both its natural topography as well as man-made structures. This fun but challenging course includes physical challenges, running, and skilled events.

Participants may choose from two levels — Beginner/Family (8 years and older) and Advanced (14 years and older).

The advanced course will test even the most-seasoned athlete with a difficult run component and challenges. The Beginner/Family course will have significantly less running with modified challenges as it is designed for families and intermediate fitness enthusiasts.

The advanced course is 4.3 miles and the beginner course is 1.7 miles.

Pre-register online through Newtown Parks & Recreation (Activity #414110). Participants may register the day of the event. Cost is $35 for adults and $20 for children.

Advanced run will begin at 8:30 am and the Beginner/Family participants will run at 9:30 am (everyone is asked to arrive a half hour early). Day of race signups are 7:30 am for advanced participants and 8:30 am for beginners. Pre-race day registrations close at noon on Friday, June 7. T-shirts are limited so participants are asked to arrive early.

Children 8 years and up may participant with a parent and must participate on the family course.
