Madalyn Henry, 70, of Newtown, died peacefully April 26. She was born in Springfield, Mass., on September 10, 1947 and graduated from the University of Massachusetts.

Ms Henry loved her community, where she raised her family and resided for more than 40 years.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her children, Daniel of Beaufort, S.C., Dana of Hailey, Idaho, and Kara of Lititz, Penn.; her grandchildren, Shaylyn, Taylor, James, Arthur, Lilli, and Andrew; and her two loving nephews survive her.

Ms Henry enjoyed reading, her book club, and practicing Jewish traditions. She was an avid learner, had a penchant for languages, was a talented calligrapher, and had a sharp wit with which she loved to make people laugh. Many of those who knew her will remember her for her friendship and generosity.

A service will be Monday, April 30, at 2 pm at Congregation Adath Israel, 115 Huntingtown Road, Newtown, followed by a private reception at her home.
