Marching Nighthawks Complete Season

The Newtown High School Marching Band and Color Guard ended its season with its highest score of the season on Saturday, November 13. The Musical Arts Conference Championship was held in Bridgeport’s Kennedy Stadium. Newtown scored the season high of 95.55 to place third in Class V behind Trumbull and Norwalk, and ahead of New Milford, Port Chester, and Brien McMahon High Schools. Newtown’s drum majors Kevin Rovelli and Katie Cummings won the best drum major award.

This year’s Marching Band and Color Guard had nearly one-third of the roughly 120-member group made up of freshmen students. The season started on September 11 when the NHS Marching Nighthawks attended its first competition of the season at Danbury High School.
