Mary C. Board, 72, of Newtown, died peacefully September 9, in Newtown. She was born in Patterson, N.J., May 25, 1946, and was the daughter of Frederick J Board and Jane (Kalbfus) Board. Her only sibling was her brother, Jonathan Board, who predeceased her.

Ms Board attended and graduated from the Centenary College for Women, Class of 1966. She then went on to study at American University in Washington, DC, and graduated in 1968. During her professional career, she was employed by Pitney Bowes, Procter and Gamble, and Best Foods, specializing in product planning and promotion.

She was a longtime active member of the Eastern Star Lady Martha #103 Chapter in Monroe and served as Grand Marshall from 1981 to 1982. Ms Board was known as a strong-willed, private, and independent woman, which allowed her to move on from her disability.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Ms Board’s life Monday, September 17, at 10 am, at the Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury. Interment will immediately follow at Newtown Village Cemetery.
