Mary Mengerditus, 97, of Newtown, died peacefully June 8, in her sleep, at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Manhattan on November 27, 1920.

She was known for her sassy personality, bobby pins, and her delicious food. Ms Mengerditus loved her family very much and lived a long, beautiful life. Although she had no kids of her own, her loved ones say she was considered everyone's aunt and will be missed.

Four sisters, Helen, Betsy, Virginia, and Minnie, predeceased her.

A memorial gathering will be Tuesday, June 12, from 10 to 11 am, followed immediately by the Rite of Burial at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery.
