Memorial Day Holiday Closings

All town offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, in honor of Memorial Day.

Newtown Senior Center, the schools, and C.H. Booth Library also will be closed.

The transfer station on Ethan Allen Road will be closed. (The transfer station is regularly closed to the public on Mondays. It will not be open on Memorial Day for commercial service.)

Edmond Town Hall will be closed for the day. Screenings of Dumbo, the feature for May 24-30, will resume Tuesday, May 28.

Memorial Day is a USPS holiday. There is no regular mail delivery.

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicle offices will close at 12:30 pm Friday, May 24, for the holiday. Offices will remain closed on Saturday, May 25. They will reopen on Tuesday, May 28, at 7:45 am.

The Newtown Bee offices will be closed Saturday through Monday, May 25-27, and will reopen at 8 am, Tuesday, May 29.

Deadlines for editorial content for the print edition of Friday, May 31, will not be affected by the holiday. Advertising deadlines will be affected, however; call 203-426-3141 for early deadline information.

Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters lowered the flag on the Main Street flagpole on May 15 in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day. Readers are reminded that, according to US Flag Code, flags on Monday, May 27, should be lowered at sunrise for Memorial Day.
