Mildred Ackerly

Mildred “Millie” Ackerly, 77, of Brookfield, formerly of Pleasantville, N.Y., died unexpectedly November 30, at home. She was born June 16, 1941, in Ossining, N.Y.

She was the beloved wife of Wes for 57 years; loving mother of Dawn Escoda and son-in-law Gary of Sandy Hook, Carol Haims and son-in-law Rob of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Matthew Ackerly and daughter-in-law Tara of Brookfield; proud grandmother of Nicole, Courtney, Tyler, Ryan, Alexandra, Shannon, and Matthew; faithful sister to Edward Orser of North Charleston, S.C.; and aunt to many nieces and nephews, who survive her. Her loving and devoted dog will miss her dearly.

Her parents, Kenneth Orville and Mildred Ruth Orser, and her brother, Kenneth L. Orser, predeceased her.

Mrs Ackerly loved traveling, playing dominoes, doing puzzles, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan. She was always there to support and cheer them on.

She was retired from the Briarcliff Todd Elementary School, where she was a teacher’s aide for 18 years. She raised her family in Pleasantville, N.Y.

She will be missed by all who knew her for her devotion, kindness, and love.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, December 4, from 4 to 8 pm, at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville, N.Y.

The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, December 5, at noon, at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church in Pleasantville, N.Y.
