The Newtown Education Foundation (NEF) Evening of Comedy, held at Edmond Town Hall on March 1, was filled with laughs in honor of raising funds for education in Newtown, according to NEF President Allyson Story.

The event was rescheduled due to snow from its original date of January 19.

“The night was perfect. It was really fun,” said Ms Story, following the event.

For those with VIP tickets, the evening began with a party in Edmond Town Hall’s Alexandria Room, where Sal e Pepe Restaurant of Newtown served dinner, wine, beer, and soda. The night’s main entertainment later began at 8:30 pm and ran until roughly 10 pm. The evening featured comedians Alexandra McHale and Andy Pitz.

Ms Story said she could tell the crowd was “happy and really enjoyed the night” throughout the event.

Money raised from the event will support Newtown schools through teacher grants. According to NEF’s website, newtowneducationfoundation.org, it promotes and supports innovative education programs for the benefit of students in the Newtown Public Schools.

With the Evening of Comedy still fresh on her mind, Ms Story said she is looking forward to a NEF community scavenger hunt that is being planned. Details about the scavenger hunt and more NEF programs will be available on the foundation’s website.
