Newtown Babe Ruth, in association with the Bridgeport Bluefish (Class A minor league baseball) sponsored a fund raiser night at the ball park recently. Babe Ruth sold 823 tickets to league players, parents and relatives at $8 per ticket and the Bluefish organization returned 50% of the sales directly to the league – resulting in $3,292 which will go into the general fund for field and equipment upgrades. Below, league treasurer Mike Kerler (with his son Otto) and league president Frank Rocca, center, accept the check from Bluefish group sales coordinator Chris Domans. Above, the six-year-old Midgets – the ones who sold the most tickets – stand with a few of their coaches and division director Sean Kerins on the left.
