Excel Part 1 — A three-class course on Mondays, starting March 25, 6:30 pm to 9 pm, $99. The ability to work with rows and columns of information is a priceless tool for conquering the informational aspects of life with ease and accuracy. Learn to use the spreadsheet most used by businesses, students, and home-users. Using Microsoft Excel, learn to design and use spreadsheets. We will cover working with text, numbers, and dates. And we will learn how to use formulas and functions. Many additional features will be covered as well. Basic computer skills are required.

Windows 10, An Overview — A one-class course, Wednesday, March 27, 3:15 pm to 5:45 pm, $39. Microsoft Windows 10 has several significant user interface changes, a brand new browser (replacing Internet Explorer), a new digital assistant (called Cortana), and other changes as well. For those looking for helpful guidance, come to this one-time class for a demonstration and discussion of Windows 10 and see what’s new and different and some of the basics that have stayed the same.

Market Corrections And How They Can Affect My Retirement — A one-class course, Thursday, March 28, 6:30 pm to 8 pm, $29. The class will cover the value of planning and staging retirement to potentially be prepared for events, like ways to hedge or shelter a portfolio when events happen, buying low and selling high, how taxes can play an equally important role in retirement, and whether a plan can weather the storm of a correction and recover.

Plan Your Social Security With Confidence — A one-class course, Tuesday, March 26, 6:30 pm to 8 pm, $29. This ninety-minute presentation covers Social Security basics and reveals strategies for maximizing benefits. The class will discuss minimizing taxes on Social Security benefits and coordination of an individual’s Social Security benefit with other sources of retirement income. The class will welcome questions about Social Security benefits as students explore personal options.

Paint Your Pet — A one-class course, Thursday, March 28, 6 pm to 8:30 pm, $69. Imagine the thrill of seeing a precious fur baby on a 12-inch-by-12-inch canvas. How? Easy! Color On Wheels is coming to make this all possible. After registering for the class, submit an electronic, clear, close-up of the pet’s face to by e-mail to gellise@newtown.k12.ct.us. Files will be sent to the artist, who will transfer a simple pencil outline sketch of the pet’s basic features, onto the canvas. The evening of the class, the instructor will guide course-goers to paint the background and then work with individuals to paint and shade to create the image of their pet. All supplies are provided. Limited to eight students. No discounts apply.

Beginner French I — A six-class course on Mondays, starting March 25, 6 pm to 7 pm, $125. Unlock the mysteries of La Langue Francaise! In this fun and engaging beginning level class (little to no previous experience needed), the class will learn proper pronunciation and basic building block concepts of French grammar as well as everyday vocabulary, expressions and phrases via spoken games, drills, and exercises. Students should bring a notebook/writing instrument or laptop. Limited to eight students. No discounts apply.

Beginner French II — A six-class course on Mondays, starting March 25, 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm, $125. A continuation of Beginner French I, starting with a review of building blocks of French language, core auxiliary verbs, gender, subject/verb/adjective agreement, and “er” verbs. This will be followed by further development of vocabulary with an emphasis on everyday, practical language, drills, games and role playing, and emphasis on spoken language and practice of everyday situations. Bring a notebook/writing instrument or laptop. No discounts apply.

Beginner German — A six-class course on Thursdays, starting March 28, 6:30 pm to 8 pm, $125. The instructor, a native speaker, will offer language skills for those people who have little or no prior exposure to the German language. Students will learn how to communicate with simple questions and sentences. Every day German life will also be discussed in this class. Students will be required to purchase the book German In 10 Minutes A Day. No discounts apply.

LinkedIn 101 — A one-class course, Monday, March 25, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, $30. This one-hour presentation discusses the importance of LinkedIn and the purpose it serves. Students will also learn how to navigate the website and create a profile. Students should bring their laptop to follow along live. No discounts apply.

Let’s Get A Job — A one-class course, Thursday, March 28, 6 pm to 9 pm, $100. The ultimate career counseling bundle, offered at an introductory price. Beginner Meditation And Mindfulness I — A one-class course, Monday, March 25, 6 pm to 7:15 pm, $99. This beginner class will explore what meditation is and what it is not; provide guided instruction into meditation and mindfulness practices; provide methods for integrating mindfulness into daily life and finding a still quiet place within that will ultimately reduce stress and empower to choose love over fear.
