Newtown Day Promises Food, Fun, Music For All

Newtown Parks & Recreation is partnering with the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown and sponsors Dental Associates of Connecticut, eFriend Marketing, Curtis Packaging, and The Newtown Bee to present the first Newtown Day community event on Saturday, October 6, from 11 am to 5 pm.

Held on the grounds of Fairfield Hills, organizers are promising plenty of food, fun, and festivities for “kids” of all ages to enjoy. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children ages 6 to 12, and children age 5 years and younger are free.

The event will feature a Brew Garden presented by ChilledNDistilled of Sandy Hook, food trucks, food vendors, pop-up shops, family activities, and entertainment from local bands organized by emcee and Rock Elite Music Academy founder Grant Ossendryver.

Adults can enjoy local IPAs, wine, and cider served in the “Brew Garden” from noon to last call at 4:30 pm.

As of September 12, the following vendors are participating: Arkham Shine Auto Detailing, BD Provisions, Be Driven LLC, Byrd’s Books, Code Ninjas of Trumbull, Costco Wholesale, Cross Fit of Sandy Hook, Cruise Planners, Farmers Insurance, Green Sun Organics, Newtown Apparel Co, and the Newtown Community Center.

Also Oronoque Farms, Psychic Woman, Renewal by Andersen, Roost Candle Co, State Farm Insurance, The Bling Stop, The Toy Tree, Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski, Usborne Books & More, Pure Haven, World Champion Taekwondo, and Pavement Services.

Food trucks booked include: Big Green Eggs & Hamburgers, Carmela’s Italian Kitchen, Cinnamon Churros, Dad’s Popcorn Truck, DrewBaQ, Ferris Acres Ice Cream Tent, G Monkey Vegan Food Truck, Greek on the Street, Jim’s Ice Cream Truck, and Little Kernel’s Kettle Corn.

Also Rice & Beans, Sultan Kebab, Kathy’s Kitchen & Catering Truck, Panchitos Mexican Grill, Maplewood of Newtown Tent, Lucky Dog Food Truck, and Grumpy Big.

Shuttle buses will be provided from Newtown High School and Newtown Middle School to the Fairfield Hills Campus.

Parking for the event has also been reserved at the Reed School and on the Fairfield Hills Campus.

To drop off or pick up sponsor forms in person, vendors should visit Newtown Parks & Recreation at 3 Main Street, below the Newtown Police Department.
