Newtown High School’s dance team put its moves together to earn South-West Conference championships in both the Jazz and Hip Hop categories, at New Milford High, on February 4.

The Nighthawks are at the top of the conference for the first time since winning both Jazz and Hip Hop in 2016, having finished runner-up to Brookfield in the Jazz Division each of the last two years, and second to Brookfield in Hip Hop in 2017.

The Nighthawks, coached by Cheryl Stenz, are the defending State Large Division champions and will look to capture another crown at the end of this season.

Newtown’s squad has performed at halftime of football and basketball games and practiced routines throughout the school year.
