Newtown residents Thomas Dolzall and Marleigh Sullivan were named on the University of New Hampshire’s fall semester Dean’s List for the 2009-2010 academic year with highest honors. Resident Joshua Baron was named for high honors. Allison Rambone, Jillian Tanner, Taylor Schwertley and Daniel Smith were named with honors on the Dean’s List. Sandy Hook residents Joseph Cappiello and Danna Happel were also named with high honors on the Dean’s List, and Sandy Hook resident Caleigh Boyle was named with honors. Students named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Hampshire are students who have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance. Highest Honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.5 to 3.69 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.2 through 3.49 are awarded honors.

Stonehill College, Easton, Mass., recently named Sandy Hook resident Adam A. Horvath, a member of the class of 2012, to its Dean’s List for the fall 2009 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List at Stonehill, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

Emily Snyder, daughter of Catherine and Paul Snyder, has been named to the fall 2009 Dean’s List for Champlain College, Burlington, Vt., for her academic achievements. Snyder is majoring in graphic design and digital media. Students named to the Dean’s List are full-time students with a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or more.

Anthony David Fiore was named to the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement for the fall 2009 semester at Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at Binghamton University, state University of New York, in Binghamton. The criteria for the Dean’s Honors list is a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

In Oneonta, N.Y., Hartwick College first-year student and Sandy Hook resident Steven Svanda, son of Jennifer and Mark Svanda, has been named to the fall term Dean’s List at the college. Inclusion in Hartwick’s Dean’s List is an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full course load with at least a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale. Steven is majoring in political science.

Sandy Hook resident David Marcucilli, son of Jim and Nancy Marcucilli and a 2005 Newtown High School Graduate, was been awarded a bachelor of arts degree in hospitality and tourism with a concentration in business management on December 16 from Johnson State College, Johnson, Vt. During his school career at the college, David completed an internship at Marriott’s Eden Roc Resort and Spa in Miami and has been employed at Stowe Mountain Resort in Stowe, Vt., for the past three years.

Edward John Small, a senior history major at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Penn., has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2009 semester. A graduate of Newtown High School, he is the son of Mr and Mrs Stephen Small of Sandy Hook. All students earning a position on the Dean’s List, a recognition of academic excellence, must have a grade point average of 3.7 or above on a 4.0 GPA scale for the semester.

Nick Kallivrousis was named to the Dean’s List at Cabrini College, Radnor, Penn., for the fall 2009 semester.

Shannon Kirch completed requirement for a bachelor of science in animal science from the University of Delaware, Newark, and received her degree during a commencement ceremony on January 9. The commencement speaker was educator and UD alumna Jill Biden, wife of US Vice President Joe Biden.

Also at the University of Delaware, Matthew Boland, a sophomore marketing major in the College of Business and Economics, Shannon Kirch, a senior animal science major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Julie Landin, a junior finance and international business studies major in the College of Business and Economics, Jillian Logan, a junior finance major in the College of Business and Economics, Natalie Villa, a sophomore chemistry major in the College of Arts and Sciences, Lindsay Weber, a senior psychology and criminal justice major in the College of Arts and Sciences, Emily Weber, a freshman university studies major in the College of University Studies, and Sandy Hook resident Blake Bell, a sophomore mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering, were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2009 semester. Full-time students with grade point averages of 3.33 or above on a 4.0 scale for the semester, with no temporary grades.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Mass., has announced that Benjamin Morehouse, son of Mr and Mrs Robert M. Morehouse of Newtown, a senior majoring in biochemistry, was named to the university’s Dean’s List for academic excellence for the fall 2009 semester.

Charles LoBosco was named to the Dean’s List at Canisius College, Buffalo, N.Y., for the fall 2009 semester.
