Newtown Student Helps Band Win Ridgefield Band Jam 2012

Head O’ Meadow fourth grader Max Bloomquist helped his band Marmalade Sky win the middle school category at the Ridgefield Playhouse-sponsored Band Jam competition that was held in Ridgefield on Sunday, March 25.

Four high school bands and four middle school category bands made it to the finalist level of the competition. Each band played two songs and was critiqued by four judges.

Max’s band competed against the bands Twisted Jazz, Helium, and Next Generation during the competition, and the four high school bands that made it to the finalist round were The Catch, Take Zero, MOTP, and Smokebomb Mondays, a Newtown-based band. MOTP won the high school level of the competition.

Max is the drummer for Marmalade Sky and his fellow band members are keyboardist Ben Sulzinsky,  bassist Josh Gardos and guitarist Jason Banger all of Ridgefield, and vocalist Mia Gaetano of Bethel.

Marmalade Sky was announced as the winner for its category and the band also won an online voting contest sponsored by i95.
