Newtown VFW Announces Scout Of The Year Program

The Newtown VFW Post 308 and Auxiliaries will be participating in the National Scout of the Year Program, as announced by Post Commander James Rebman. 

The Newtown VFW Post will be doing outreach with candidates for the award to help in preparation for  submissions.

The winner of the Newtown chapter winner will receive a check for $100 and will go on to compete at the state level. The Connecticut winner will then be eligible to compete on the national level for scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

Applicants must be scouts who are registered, active members of a Boy or Girl Scout Troop, Venturing Crew, or a Sea Scout Ship who have received the Eagle Scout Award, Girl Scout Gold Award, Venture Silver Award or Sea Scout Quartermaster Award. Scouts must be at least 15 years of age and have demonstrated practical citizenship in school, scouting, and the community, and must be enrolled in high school at the time of selection.
