NHS Baseball Team Wins Behind Haywood's Effort On Mound And At Plate

Connor Haywood hit an inside-the-park home run, and pitched the Newtown High School baseball team to a 7-1 triumph over visiting Hall of West Hartford on April 12.

Haywood pitched a complete game four-hitter with a whopping 11 strikeouts.

At the plate, he was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks, two runs batted in, and a run scored.

Josh Taylor had two hits and an RBI, and Joseph Pagett had a hit and RBI. Harry Lucas smacked a double and scored a run.

Newtown trailed 1-0 before tying the game in the fourth, and went ahead with a three-spot in the fifth and another trio of runs in the sixth inning.
