NHS Interact Club Hosts Basketball Fundraiser

The Newtown High School Interact Club will hold a student/faculty basketball game, entitled Hoops for Haiti, on Friday, March 31, at 6 pm, in the school gymnasium.

This is the second year the Interact Club has hosted the event. Kirsten Hardy, high school teacher and club advisor, stated that last year the event proved not only to be fun but raised $2,000 to be donated to the Haitian Health Foundation to be used to build four houses in Haiti.

“Last year the gymnasium was packed with current students, parents, other faculty members, and alumni. We are hoping to repeat our success this year. We have 30 faculty members playing basketball, including our own superintendent, Dr Evan Pitkoff. We also have faculty members cheerleading along side the student cheerleaders,” Ms Hardy said.

There is a $5 minimum donation at the door and all proceeds will again go to the Haitian Health Foundation.
