Nissan Hits Scion

About 9 am on June 18, James Tessitore, 41, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2007 Scion TC coupe, was waiting to pull up to a gasoline pump at the Citgo gas station at 151 South Main Street, when motorist Angelo Decesare, 66, of Shelton, who was driving a 2001 Nissan Frontier pickup truck, backed out of a parking space and collided with the Scion, police report.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Failure To Respond

Police report they went to the residence of Jared C. Bradley, 36, of 84-A Huntingtown Road about noon on June 17 to arrest him on a court warrant on a charge of failure to respond to an infraction.

Police said that Bradley had received an infraction ticket in January on a charge of littering.

Police released Bradley on $219 bail for a July 1 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Flagpole Crash

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the hazardous Main Street flagpole intersection about 6:24 pm on June 17.

Carol Ackerman, 48, of 18 Georges Hill Road, who was driving a 2008 Honda Civic sedan, started to make a right turn from westbound Church Hill Road onto northbound Main Street, when the Honda was hit from behind by Francis Bresson, 91, of 25-A Bennetts Bridge Road, who was driving a 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass coupe, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Bresson a written warning for following too closely.

Drugs/Alcohol

Police report that while on patrol about 10:14 pm June 18, they spotted a suspicious vehicle parked off of Alpine Drive in the Riverside section, so they investigated.

Police said they then charged the driver Zoe Rabinowitz, 18, of 30 Alpine Circle with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of alcohol by a minor.

Police released Rabinowitz on a written promise to appear for a July 7 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant on him, Peter Blomberg, 57, of 34 Botsford Hill Road went to the police station on the afternoon of June 20 and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction. Police said that violation stems from a February 26 incident in which Blomberg allegedly allowed a dog to roam. Blomberg posted $92 bail for a July 7 court appearance.

Minivan Off Road

Jonathan Fermin, 24, of Bethel was driving a 2007 Dodge Caravan minivan westward on the unpaved Ox Hill Road about 6:45 am June 14, when he braked at its intersection with Mt Nebo Road, but then skidded off the road to the left and struck a stone wall, police said.

Fermin was not injured. Police verbally warned him for traveling too fast for conditions.

Flagpole Accident

A two-vehicle collision occurred at the hazardous Main Street flagpole intersection about 10:47 am on June 19.

Lisa Staubly, 42, of 9 Newbury Road, who was driving a 2006 Honda Pilot carrying one passenger, stopped on westbound Church Hill Road and was waiting to make a right turn onto northbound Main Street, according to police.

Ian Doerr, 19, of 49 Spring Trail, who was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer carrying three passengers, then stopped behind the Honda, police said.

The Honda moved forward to make the right turn but then stopped, after which the Ford struck the Honda from behind, police said.

There were no injuries. Doerr received a written warning for following too closely, police said.

SUV Vs SUV

State police report a two-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, about 3:55 pm on June 19.

State police said that Jonathan Chew, 62, of Beacon Falls, who was driving a 2009 Toyota RAV-4, was struck by William B. Gerraughty, Jr, 44, of Duxbury, Mass., who was driving a 2008 Jeep Wrangler.

Chew initially did not realize that there had been a collision and kept driving, state police said. There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

Guard Cables

Rocco Barberio, 63, of New Milford was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 11, about 12:31 pm on June 18, when he drifted onto the highway median and struck an about 105-foot section of guard cables, state police said.

The impact knocked over 18 support posts for the guard cables. Barberio was not injured. Enforcement information was not available.

Chain-Reaction Collision

Three vehicles collided on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, on June 18, state police report.

Patrick Cushing, 43, of 9 Turkey Roost Road, who was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla, stopped for traffic conditions, after which Lawrence Bailey, 53, of East Windsor, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu, stopped behind the Toyota, state police said.

Kristen Jordan, 18, of Sherman, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer, then hit the rear end of the Malibu, pushing the Malibu into the rear end of the Corolla, state police said.

There were no injuries. Jordan received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Lexus Hits Cables

Bromeo Mortera, 86, of 20 Tunnel Road was driving a 1993 Lexus ES-300 eastward on Interstate 64, west of Exit 9, about 3:42 pm June 14, when Mortera lost control of the auto and struck about 400 feet of guard cabling along the highway, state police said.

Mortera was not injured. State police said Mortera received a written warning for failure to drive in the established lanes.

Auto Vandal

Sometime between 10:30 pm on June 12 and 6 am on June 13, someone entered a property on Jeremiah Road, near its intersection with Morgan Drive, and intentionally punctured the four tires of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway, police report. The incident of second-degree criminal mischief resulted in about $600 worth of property damage. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 426-5841.

High Rock Road

Police received a telephone call about 12:29 am on June 13 from a resident on High Rock Road, near its intersection with Sand Hill Road, stating that a vehicle which had been traveling northward on High Rock Road struck their curbside mailbox, damaging it. The unknown driver then left the scene. Police are investigating.

Rear-Ender

Motorist Beth O’Keefe, 47, of 45 Horseshoe Ridge Road, who was driving a 2008 GMC Acadia SUV, was traveling southward near 7 Main Street about 4:26 pm June 23, when she slowed for traffic conditions, police said.

Southbound motorist Chelsea Kretkowski, 16, of Bethel, who was driving a 1997 Nissan Altima sedan, then struck the rear end of the GMC, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Kretkowski for traveling too fast for conditions.

Fireworks Incidents

Police report they charged three men in connection with incidents about 6 pm June 23 in which two residential mailboxes in the area of Shut Road/Webster Place were damaged by fireworks explosions.

Police said they arrested Adam Samuels, 26, of 128 Hanover Road; Justin McGrath, 19, of 152 South Main Street; and Richard Temple, 21, of 197 Walnut Tree Hill Road.

Police charged each of the three men with illegal possession of fireworks and with third-degree criminal mischief. Police said they also charged Samuels with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.

Police released Samuels on $2,500 bail, and released McGrath and Temple on $250 bail each. All three men are scheduled for July 8 appearances in Danbury Superior Court.

Four Violations

Police report they stopped motorist Sean Ryan, 38, of Naugatuck about 3 pm June 22 on Sugar Street because the vehicle that he was driving had no front marker plate.

After investigating, police charged Ryan with failure to have a front marker plate, misuse of a marker plate, driving without a license, and failure to have automotive insurance.

Police released Ryan on a written promise to appear in court on July 2.

 

Dodge Vs Lexus

Motorist Judith Qualey, 62, of 1 Cedar Circle was driving a 2008 Lexus IS-250 northward on South Main Street and then slowed in preparing to make a left turn onto Park Lane at about 6:47 pm June 23, when the Lexus was hit from behind by a northbound 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by Michaela Camm, 22, of Southbury, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Camm a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Ford Hits Honda

About 9 am June 22, motorist Anna Zilli, 47, of New Milford, who was driving a 2005 Ford southward near 48 South Main Street, struck the rear end of a southbound 2005 Honda driven by Patricia Schulze, 61, of Brookfield, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said Zilli received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart and for driving without a license.

Evading

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Little Brook Lane and Botsford Hill Road about 11:37 am June 20.

In that incident, a 2006 Chrysler driven by Mariana Silveira, 20, of 47 Botsford Hill Road, collided with a 2006 Nissan driven by Stephen Csordas, 55, of 3 Buck Trail, police said. There were no injuries.

Police said Silveira left the scene of the accident. Police later charged her with evading responsibility and with driving without a license. Police said they released Silveira on $500 bail for a July 9 court appearance.

Church Hill Road

While on patrol near 51 Church Hill Road about 6:20 pm June 24, police said they stopped motorist John Peters III, 35, of 9 Arrowhead Lane for a cellphone violation.

After investigating, police said they issued Peters an infraction for illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving. Police said they also charged him with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police released Peters on a written promise to appear July 8 in Danbury Superior Court.

Mailbox Vandalism

Police report a rash of vandalism in which curbside mailboxes in various parts of town have been battered by someone wielding a baseball bat.

Either late on June 22 or early on June 23, individual mailboxes were vandalized on Bennetts Bridge Road and Toddy Hill Road.

Sometime between 7 pm on June 23 and 9 am on June 24 two mailboxes were vandalized on Middleton Road.

Police are investigating the criminal mischief and ask anyone with information on the incidents to contact them at the police station at 426-5841.

Three Charges

Police report that at about 3:27 pm on June 24, they stopped motorist Zachary Kline, 20, of Trumbull, who was driving a 1997 Jeep Cherokee on Main Street, near its intersection with East Street.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Kline with driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle by a minor.

After processing, police released Kline on $100 bail for a July 9 court appearance.
