Newtown Middle School Robotics Club students learned how to build finger sensors from Microsoft employees at its meeting on March 1.

Newtown High School adjunct teacher Marc Michaud orchestrated the presentation. According to Robotics Club Advisor and NMS science teacher Kathleen Dye, the club has studied snap circuitry, electronics, coding, and more so far this year.

Employees of the Microsoft in the Danbury Fair Mall worked with the students on March 1. Community Development Specialist Brian Lavoie, Product Advisor Stephanie Bock, and Product Advisor Justin Forester visited the club for the event. Mr Lavoie explained the students would work with Arduino Uno Kits to build sensors that would mimic the movement of a finger.

As Mr Lavoie walked the students through building the kits, they followed directions to connect wires and pop out cardboard pieces to build the sensor and moving pieces.
