Occupation: I’m a stay-at-home mom, but I feel like what I do is full-time shopping. We just moved into a completely empty new house this fall that is three times the size of the one we lived in back in the UK.

Family: My husband, Mark, and I have three children. Lauryn is 8; Holly is 6; and Sam is 3 years old.

Pets: No pets — it seems like everyone on our street has one and the kids keep asking. We don’t know how long we’re here for, though, so we haven’t gotten a pet.

How long have you lived here? We moved here August 19 from Christchurch, England, on the south coast. Mark was relocated by Curtis Instruments in Mount Kisco, N.Y.

What do you like to do in your free time? I have joined a gym here and I love working out. It’s a very different lifestyle here. You have to drive everywhere. In England, we did a lot more walking and cycling. I do like hiking, but haven’t had a lot of time yet to do much around here. We also love to eat out, and cook and entertain.

Do you have a favorite cuisine? Probably Italian and Chinese, both eating out and cooking at home. I’m learning to adapt to American cooking and getting used to the different brands and what things are called here. That takes some getting used to.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I do like the Dordogne region in central France. I like the culture there. It’s a rural, relaxed atmosphere and they’re very much into their gastronomy. It’s a much more innocent place.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The people, and the facilities and opportunities for kids. We like the climate, too. You have proper seasons. The kids are looking forward to snow; they’ve never seen it. The fall here was just beautiful.

Do you have a hero/heroine? Margaret Thatcher. She changed the face of UK politics and the role of how women were perceived in our society.

Do you have a personal philosophy? I have two: The first is that I believe the glass is always half full. I’m optimistic. The other is that life is what you make of it. You get out of it what you put into it.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I like to indulge in a glass of wine some evenings after the three kids have all been put to bed, especially if my husband is away traveling.
