Occupation: I’ve had a small painting business for 15 years. We specialize in interior painting and decorative painting. I’m also working on a postbaccalaureate teaching degree. I’d like to teach middle or high school. I’ve coached baseball and basketball for the past four years and that really got me interested in the teaching thing.

Family: My wife of ten years, Kim, and I have three children. Joey is 9 years old, Lauren is 6, and Jillian is 4.

Pets: We have a Bichon puppy named Vito. Vito is 5 months old now.

How long have you been in Newtown? We will have lived here for 11 years in April. I grew up in New Fairfield and lived in Danbury before moving here.

What do you like to do in your free time? What little free time there is, I spend coaching. Both of my older kids play. I also play with the men’s weeknight softball league and in the winter we do a lot of ice skating in the backyard and at Ram Pasture. Going to school fills in any other blanks that are there.

Do you have a favorite movie and actor? Braveheart and Dancing With Wolves are my favorite movies. I like the epics. For an actor, probably Russell Crowe is my favorite.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? We go to Long Beach Island on the Jersey Shore. We like that the beaches are very clean. It’s an easy commute from here, too.

What would you like to do that you have never done?  I’d like to field a ground ball at Yankee Stadium. I’d like to play shortstop with the Yankees, just for one inning or one game.

What is the best thing about Newtown? It’s a very large town, but it has a small town feel. We’re very happy with the school system. Our kids go to Sandy Hook Elementary. I like that we have Fairfield Hills available for future development and I hope we can get some more youth facilities up there so that kids in town have somewhere to go.

Do you have a hero? I lost my father very young, so there were a lot of my friends’ fathers who filled that gap for me, as well as my high school baseball coach, Joe Russo, and John Zinser, who was my football coach. I really looked up to those guys.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Never look back, always look ahead. Don’t dwell on past decisions.
