Newtown Congregational Church is adding something new this year to its annual Labor Day Pancakes & Parking event.

On Monday, September 3, all are invited to park at the church, 14 West Street. Breakfast will be served as early as 8 am, fortifying those who would like to enjoy a hot breakfast, and then take the short walk to Main Street to take in the Newtown Labor Day Parade, which steps off at 10 am.

Requested donation is $6 per person, with a family maximum of $20.

The proximity of the church and its parking lot means easy egress after the parade, or even earlier, if needed.

Monday will also be the first day of sales for NCC’s Royal Caribbean Cruise Raffle.

One lucky winner will be treated to a seven-night cruise for two to anywhere Royal Caribbean travels, along with $500 spending money.

Tickets are $10 each and only a limited number will be sold. After Labor Day, they will be available at the church office, Tuesday through Friday, between 9 am and 5 pm.

The winning ticket will be pulled Saturday, December 1. The winner does not have to be present at the time of the drawing.

Call 203-426-9024 for additional information.

Newtown Congregational Church members — including from left, Steve Bennett, Bob Stowell, Carol Mahoney, and Jerry Cole — are hoping to feed plenty of parade-goers prior to Monday’s annual Labor Day Parade. Breakfast will be served at the West Street church, and guests are welcome to leave their vehicles in the church parking lots and take the short walk to Main Street to enjoy the parade.
