Volvo vs BMW

Police report that two-car collision occurred on westbound Jeremiah Road, near its intersection with Morgan Drive, about 10:57 am on July 11.

In that incident, motorist Constant Gregoire, 19, of 7 Rockywood Drive, who was driving a 2010 Volvo S-80, backed into the rear end of a 2001 BMW 330 driven by William Keeler, 44, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., according to police.

There were no injuries. Gregoire received an infraction for improper backing, police said.

Botsford Crash

Motorist Thomas Sanchez, 27, of Shelton, who was driving a 2010 Jeep Wrangler SUV northward on South Main Street about 10:55 am on July 16, stopped at a red traffic signal at that street's intersection with the northern driveway for Sand Hill Plaza, police said.

Northbound motorist Qun Lin, 26, of 12 Little Brook Lane, who was driving a 2016 Jeep Cherokee SUV, then struck the rear end of the Wrangler, police said.

There were no injuries. Lin received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police.

Queen Street Collision

A two-vehicle collision occurred near 8 Queen Street about 8:56 am on July 21.

Police report that motorist Thomas O'Day, 65, Washington Depot, who was driving a 1988 Jeep Cherokee SUV southward on Queen Street, stopped at a red traffic signal, after which the Jeep was struck from behind by a southbound 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Adalberto Deandrade, 42, of Danbury.

Police said that Bethel ambulance staffers responded to the scene to check on a Jeep passenger for a report of pain. Police said they issued Deandrade an infraction for following too closely and for driving without a license.

Three Vehicles Collide

A three-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred on westbound Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Toddy Hill Road, about 2:08 pm on July 22, police report.

In that incident, motorist Christopher Colotti, 19, of Newburgh, N.Y., who was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry sedan, struck the rear end of 1998 Mercury Villager minivan driven by Bruce Taylor, 52, of Derby, police said.

That impact pushed the Mercury into the rear end of a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder SUV driven by Stacey Rose, 32, of Oxford, police said. There were no injuries. Police said that Colotti received an infraction for following too closely.

DUI Incident

Police said that at about 10:38 pm on July 22, they responded to a report that there was a motor vehicle off the road near the intersection of Hattertown Road and Poverty Hollow Road.

After investigating at the scene, police said they charged motorist David Arthur Dematlachowski, 32, of Monroe with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn.

Following arrest processing, police said they released Dematlachowski on $500 nonsurety bail for an August 9 court appearance.

Acura vs Toyota

At about 2:57 pm on July 23, motorist Phillip Dolcetti, 42, of Weston, who was driving a 1997 Acura RL sedan northward on Key Rock Road, struck the rear end of a northbound 2011 Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by Keith Malkin, 41, of Kent, police said.

The collision occurred at a stop sign on Key Rock Road at its intersection with Sugar Street, police said.

Dolcetti declined medical attention for a possible injury, police said. Police said they verbally warned Dolcetti for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Vehicle Mishap

Police report that at about 11:34 am on July 24, motorist Carlen Gaines, 64, of Sandy Hook, who was driving a 2014 Hyundai Elantra compact car, stopped the vehicle at Wheels Citgo, a gas station/convenience store at 67 Church Hill Road, and then exited the auto, but had forgotten to put the transmission into "park."

The unoccupied vehicle then started rolling forward, after which Gaines attempted to stop it, but fell down, with a rear wheel of the auto then rolling over her arm, police said. The Hyundai continued rolling and entered Church Hill Road, coming to rest in front of 62 Church Hill Road, police said.

Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Gaines to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. A hospital spokeswoman said that Gaines was treated and released. Hook & Ladder volunteer firefighters responded to the accident.
