DUI Incident

Police report that at about 9:30 pm on May 22, they stopped motorist Suzanne Cinicolo, 61, of 111 Hanover Road on South Main Street, near its intersection with Sugar Street, to investigate.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Cinicolo with driving under the influence and with failure to illuminate headlamps.

After processing, police released Cinicolo on $100 bail for a June 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Juvenile DUI

At about 1:30 am on May 24, police received a report stating that there was an erratic motorist driving in the area near the intersection of Main Street and Glover Avenue, so they responded to seek the driver in question.

Police said they found the motorist and stopped that person near 69 Brushy Hill Road to investigate. The person was under age 18, so police did not disclose an identity.

Police charged the person with driving under the influence, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and making a restricted turn.

The person is scheduled to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court to answer the charges, police said.

Found Item

On May 23, a single car key was found at Fairfield Hills in the area near the youth baseball fields and Cochran House, police said.

The car key is black and has a two-sided clip hook attached to it.

Police are holding the key for safekeeping. The key’s owner may contact Officer Benjamin Mulhall at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203 426-5841, to claim it.

Jeep Vs Pole

At about 7:30 am on May 20, motorist Kiley Banks, 16, of 71 Taunton Hill Road, was driving a 2010 Jeep Wrangler SUV westward on Plumtrees Road when the vehicle went off the right road shoulder and struck a utility pole near 6 Plumtrees Road, police said.

Banks was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said. Police said they issued Banks an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

SUV Vs Tree

Police report that motorist Cynthia Vavrek, 54, of Weston, who was driving a 2003 Toyota RAV-4 SUV westward near 113 Castle Hill Road at about 3 pm on May 23, told them that an animal ran out in front of her vehicle, so she swerved to avoid it, but struck a tree.

Vavrek was not injured. Police said they issued Vavrek an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

Buick Collision

Police report that motorist Janet Gray, 80, of Southbury was driving a Buick LeSabre sedan southward on Mt Pleasant Road, near its intersection with The Old Road, at about noon on May 24, when the Buick entered the northbound lane and is believed to have struck the left exterior rear-view mirror of a white Subaru Forester SUV.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Gray for failure to drive to the tight.

Botsford Crash

Police report a two-vehicle accident in Botsford on South Main Street, near its intersection with Abbey Lane, about 3:30 pm on May 23.

Police said motorist Kevin DiBiase, 31, of New Fairfield was driving a 2003 Subaru Legacy station wagon northward, as motorist Jon Robert, 35, of 4 Trout Brook Circle was driving a 2012 Ford F-350 truck southward.

Police said DiBiase told them that he was checking his cellphone when he crossed over into the opposite lane, resulting in the two vehicles colliding head-on.

DiBiase received a minor arm injury, police said. Police said they issued DiBiase an infraction for illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving and for failure to keep to the right.

Highway Accident

State police said that motorist Juliette Givens, 51, of Avon was driving a 2004 Lexus GX-470 SUV on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, about 11:50 pm on May 21, when a tractor-trailer truck that was hauling large barrels dropped some of its load, resulting in a barrel hitting the Lexus.

The truck did not stop and could not be found, state police said. There were no injuries.

State police ask anyone with knowledge of the accident to contact investigating Trooper Fawn Ouellette at Troop A in Southbury at 203-267-2240.

Guardcables

Motorist Eunette Baronette, 35, of Waterbury was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima sedan carrying three passengers on eastbound Interstate 84 about one-half mile east of Exit 11 at about 10:45 pm on May 19, when the auto went out of control and struck some guardcables, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said Baronette failed to maintain the travel lane and was driving without automotive insurance.

Barrel On Road

At about 8 am on May 22, motorist Dustin Gill, 17, of 10 Maple Drive was driving a 2011 Honda Accord eastward on Interstate 84, near Exit 10, when a barrel that was rolling down the highway struck the Honda.

There were no injuries. The origin of the rolling barrel was unclear, state police said.

Evergreen Road

Police said motorist Stephen Agnew, 48, of 18 Evergreen Road, who was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck at about 11 am on May 23, was attempting to back out of his driveway when he struck a parked unoccupied 2013 Honda Civic sedan. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Agnew a written warning for unsafe backing.

Chain Reaction

A three-vehicle chain reaction accident occurred on northbound Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Sherman Street, about 3 pm on May 23.

The accident involved motorist Grant Untiedt, 16, of 7 Sugarloaf Road, who was driving a 2006 Acura RSX coupe; motorist Sean Ferris, 16, of 43 Boulevard, who was driving a 2011 Subaru Impreza station wagon; and motorist Suzanne Mehan, 77, of Reno, Nev., who was driving a 2001 Subaru Forester SUV, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued written warnings for following too closely to Untiedt and to Ferris.

DUI Arrest

Police said that at about 11:50 pm on May 23, they stopped motorist Kim Trinh, 70, of Danbury on Main Street, near its intersection with Church Hill Road, to investigate because the vehicle that he was driving had crossed over the road’s center line.

Police said they charged Trinh with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.

After processing, Trinh was released on $100 bail for a June 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court, police said.

DUI Incident

Police report they responded to a two-vehicle accident that occurred near the intersection of Main Street and Sugar Street at about 9 pm on May 27.

Police said that after investigating, they charged one of the drivers, Carlos Tamay-Guaman, 20, of Danbury with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and following too closely.

After processing, police released Tamay-Guaman on $500 nonsurety bail for a June 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

State police report a three-car accident on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, at about 4:46 pm on July 1. The autos were traveling in heavy rush-hour traffic when the accident occurred. State police said motorist Michael Seminoro, 32, of Milford, who was driving a 2009 Saturn Aura, stopped, after which motorist Gary Perez, 44, Shelton, who was driving a 2014 Dodge Challenger, started to slow down. Motorist Jason Savoca, 18, of 9 Hedge Meadow Lane, who was driving a 2004 Acura TSX, then struck the rear end of the Dodge, pushing the Dodge into the rear end of the Saturn, state police said. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Perez to Waterbury Hospital on a report of pain, state police said. Hawleyville volunteer firefighters responded to the incident to clean up a fuel spill. State police said they issued Savoca an infraction for following too closely. 
On May 22, a Newtown police officer walks amid traffic on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Wasserman Way, as police held the Click-It or Ticket enforcement project, checking on whether motorists were wearing seatbelts as required by state law. Newtown, Redding, Bethel, and Brookfield police joined forces during the project, conducting heavy enforcement in each of those four towns.  The nationwide enforcement project runs through May 31.
