Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Patsy Cannone, 41, of Newtown went to the police station on the morning of November 7, and was charged with second-degree failure to appear in court in connection with an original incident on March 7, in which Cannone was charged with driving under the influence and with driving with a suspended license, according to police.

After processing on November 7, Cannone posted $2,500 bail for a November 21 court appearance, police said.

Arrest Warrant

Police report that they arrested inmate Katherine Sullivan, 52, of Sandy Hook, on a warrant on November 7 at state Superior Court in Danbury, charging her with violation of a protective order and with second-degree breach of peace in connection with an October 20 incident at Narragansett Trail in Sandy Hook.

Sullivan pleaded not guilty to both charges at her arraignment and is scheduled to return to court on November 21. Sullivan was being held on November 8 at York Correctional Institution in Niantic on $35,000 bail on various pending charges.

Three Warrants

Police report that at about 1:08 am on November 4, they spotted a vehicle parked along the westbound road shoulder of Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Oakview Road, so they stopped to investigate.

Inside the vehicle, police found Anthony Ledley, 22, of Sandy Hook, for whom there were three outstanding warrants. Ledley was then arrested on three counts of violation of probation. Ledley posted $5,000 bail and was released for a November 6 court appearance, according to police.

DUI Incident

Police report that at about 8:10 am on November 4, a local man who was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV eastward on Church Hill Road, near Commerce Road, was struck by a westbound 2015 Subaru Crosstrek SUV, after which the Subaru continued traveling westward without slowing or stopping. There were no injuries.

Police were alerted of the incident and then located the Subaru traveling westward on Sugar Street, stopping it near Madison Drive. After investigating, police charged Subaru driver Gregory Muffatti, 25, of Bethel with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, failure to drive to the right, and possession of a weapon (sword) in a motor vehicle.

After arrest processing, Muffatti was released on $1,000 bail for a November 21 court appearance.

Asleep At Wheel

State police report that motorist Ryan Mitten, 28, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., was driving a 2009 Honda Element SUV on westbound Interstate 84 at about 4:57 pm on November 4, when he fell asleep at the wheel and then entered the left road shoulder, after which the vehicle struck some guardcabling.

There were no injuries. Mitten received an infraction for failure to maintain the proper lane.

Outstanding Warrant

Police report they received a call for assistance at about 8:11 pm on November 4, after which they responded to a Sandy Hook residence to investigate an incident.

During the course of their investigation, police said they learned that there was an outstanding warrant for a woman who lives there. Police then charged Maria Piazza, 55, with second-degree failure to appear in court in connection with Piazza having missed a scheduled court date. The original charges stem from a March motor vehicle incident.

After processing, police released Piazza on $750 bail for a November 21 court appearance.

Mt Pleasant Crash

Motorist Daniel Mosner, 60, of Newtown, who was driving a 2007 Lexus LS-460 sedan westward on Mt Pleasant Road at about 7:53 am on November 3, lost control of the vehicle as he approached Johnnie Cake Lane and then struck some guardrailing along the right road shoulder, after which the vehicle moved away but then struck the guardrailing again, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Mosner for traveling too fast for conditions.

Sedan Vs Sedan

On eastbound Interstate 84's Exit 9 off-ramp at about 5:13 pm on November 3, motorist Terrel Little, 26, of Danbury, who was driving a 2007 Nissan Maxima sedan, struck the rear end of a 2011 Chevrolet Impala sedan driven by Brandon Forness, 26, of Olean, N.Y., state police said.

There were no injuries. Little was issued an infraction for following too closely.

Highway Collision

At about 10:47 am on November 2, trucker Dan Schmid, 27, of Long Branch, N.J., who was driving a 2016 Freightliner truck on eastbound Interstate 84, about 1,500 feet east of Exit 9, drifted on the highway and struck motorist Jesse Lewis, 35, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2012 Honda CR-V SUV, state police report.

There were no injuries. Schmid received a written warning for failure to drive in the established lane.

Honda Vs Chevy

At about 4 pm on November 2, motorist Tania Stergue, 47, of Sandy Hook, who was driving a 2003 Honda Accord, was backing out of a driveway at 306 Berkshire Road, as motorist Kathleen Shost, 29, of Oxford was driving a 17 Chevrolet Trax subcompact SUV eastward on Berkshire Road, police said.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Stergue a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Interstate DUI

State police report that motorist Peter O'Connor, 55, of Danbury, who was driving a 2017 Toyota RAV-4 SUV westward on Interstate 84, near Exit 9, at about 7:16 pm on November 2, swerved to the right road shoulder and then struck some guardcabling. There were no injuries.

State police said that after investigating, they charged O'Connor with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane, O'Connor was released on $1,000 nonsurety bail for a November 16 court appearance.

Theft Of Items

Police report that sometime between 4:30 pm on October 31, and 7:30 am on November 1, someone entered a vehicle that was parked along Engleside Terrace in the Riverside section and stole items from within, including a blue, green, and gray school backpack.

Police are investigating the theft and ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact Officer Stephanie Thibodeau at the police station at 203-426-3141.

Swamp Road

About 6:41 pm on November 1, motorist Saul Morocho, 44, of Danbury was driving a 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck northward on Swamp Road when he lost control of the vehicle, entered a ditch, and then struck a curbside residential mailbox near 41 Swamp Road, after which he hit a utility pole, snapping the pole at its base, police report.

There were no injuries. Morocho received an infraction for failure to drive to the right.

Auto Accident

Police report that at about 6:46 pm on October 31, motorist Michael Maddox, 47, of Sandy Hook, who was driving a 2008 Infiniti Q-56 SUV on Short Hill Road, while attempting to pass a stopped noncontact vehicle, struck a parked 2015 Honda CR-V SUV.

There were no injuries. Police issued Maddox an infraction for failure to drive to the right.

Volvo Vs Kenworth

Police report that trucker Alan Dominy, 35, of Terryville, was driving a Kenworth T-800 heavy truck northward on South Main Street, near Mile Hill Road, at about 9:02 am on October 27, when northbound motorist Bonnie Bevans, 53, of Monroe, who was driving a 2005 Volvo XC-90 SUV, struck the rear end of the Kenworth.

There were no injuries. Police said Bevans received a misdemeanor summons for following too closely and for driving with a suspended license.

Truck Vs Pole

Trucker Antonio Lopez, 31, New Haven, who was driving a 2016 Nissan NV-1500 truck northward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Sugar Street, at about 12:44 pm on October 25, looked at his automotive navigation device, after which the truck veered to the right and struck a utility pole, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Lopez for making a restricted turn and for distracted driving.
