Quite A Fall Campaign: Nighthawk Athletes Recognized By State And South-West Conference

Newtown High School's fall sports teams were well-represented with 11 All State and 48 All South-West Conference honorees.

Soccer players Owen Baillargeon, Emma Curtis, and Karsen Pirone, and volleyball player Kim Buttery, and field hockey players Katie Dirga and Ali Kelleher took home All State accolades. Football was represented by All State selections Dan Mason, Carson Ivey, Joe Zeller, Matt Dubois, and Joseph Pagett. In addition, Mason was selected as a Second Team running back for the Walter Camp Team, and Pagett was selected as a Second Team defensive back for the Walter Camp Team.

The following Nighthawks are All SWC picks:

Girls' cross country: Second Team, Rylee Harrell, Lu Hage, Emily Tressler.

Boys' cross country: First Team, Nick Jacobs, Max Bloomquist; Second Team, Justin Halmose.

Girls' soccer: First Team, Emma Curtis, Karsen Pirone, Hannah Daly; Colonial Division, Sydney Howard, Keeley Kortze, Julianna Stavola.

Boys' soccer: First Team, Owen Baillargeon, Cam Trivers; Colonial Division: Thomas Briscoe, Riland Limani, Garrett Mandarano.

Field hockey: First Team, Ali Kelleher, Katie Dirga; Colonial Division, Katie Goyda, Kat Trammel, Megan O'Rourke, Camryn Griffin; Honorable Mention, Rebecca Filiato, Piper Coleman.

Football: First Team, Dan Mason, Shea Talbot, Carson Ivey, James Knox, Joe Zeller, Matt Dubios, Joseph Pagett, Jack Mulligan, Second Team: Luke Melillo, Easton Ricks, Connor Hughes; Honorable Mention, Jared Dunn, Kyle Good, Riley Ward.

Girls' swimming and diving: Second Team, Caroline Mahoney, Maddie Carter, Norah Kolb, Payton Bradley; Honorable Mention, Olivia Renkert.

Girls' volleyball: First Team, Kim Buttery, Mollie Goudy; Colonial Division, Jackie Moccio, Erin Mitchell.
