To the Editor:americanlegionnewtown@gmail.com or me at The American Legion Department of Connecticut, 860-436-9986, admin@ctlegion.necoxmail.com.

My name is Mary Harris and I am involved with Post 202 Newtown because I am a nationally appointed Media and Communications Commission member for The American Legion. I also represent the Women Veterans for The American Legion Department of Connecticut.

I wish to continue helping the Veterans of Newtown so that they may have the proper information when it comes to VA benefits.

A revitalization meeting for American Legion Post 202 took place on November 8 at Newtown Municipal Center.

It was great honor to be involved with the Town of Newtown's revitalization of American Legion Post 202. In addition to the Department, Senior Vice Commander Tom Flowers, District 3 Commander Mike Kellet, and Alice Saxton, past Auxiliary president, in attendance, we had a son of a veteran and state representative representing your town.

Please let others in Newtown or surrounding towns know about our efforts to bring Post 202 back to its former glory. We welcome new members.

The next meeting will take place in the Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street. As you face the building, on the left side, there is a meeting room on the ground floor that holds 25 people. It is called the "Old Court Room." It is handicap accessible and has a ramp. There will be several representatives attending this meeting from The American Legion Department of Connecticut (me being one of them).

In the meantime, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Commander Mike Kellett at
