Embraced Life

Enthusiastically

Ruth C. Patti, 85, died June 25 at her home in Bethel, surrounded by her family. Mrs Patti was born in Woonsocket, R.I., on October 5, 1920, the daughter of Homer and Florilda (Thibeault) Carrier.

She is survived by her children, Leonard of Newtown, Gregory and his wife, Joyce, of Fairfax, Va., Annette of Woburn, Mass., and Lorraine (Patti) Bailey and her husband, Michael, of Clarendon, Vt.; her grandchildren, Jessica and Kristen Bailey, and Brian and Sean Patti; and by several nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Boston University in 1949 with a bachelor of arts in English literature, and was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa society. She then worked in the publishing field as a literary editor.

A resident of Bethel since 1965, she earned a master’s degree in education from Western Connecticut State College and taught second grade at Stepney Elementary School in Monroe from 1965 until her retirement in 1981.

Mrs Patti was a loving wife and mother, enthusiastically embracing life and all it held. Passionate about knowledge, she actively pursued her many interests and loved teaching others. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dante J. Patti, and by her brother, Elba O. Carrier, of Wakefield, Mass.

Memorial services will be private.

The Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, is in charge of arrangements.
