Scholarships Available From Woman’s Club

Scholarships are again being offered by the Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC, Inc to qualified women who are currently in either an undergraduate or master’s program.

There is a December 15 deadline for requesting an application for the following statewide scholarships:

*The Phipps Memorial Scholarship, which was created in 1926 to help deserving students further their education. Applicants must have completed two or more years of undergraduate work with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher;

*The Dorothy E. Schoelzel Scholarship, first awarded in 1967 to assist women in the field of education. Applicants must have completed three or more years of undergraduate work with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and be pursuing a degree in the field of education at an accredited institution; and

*The Waterbury Woman’s Club Scholarship, created in 1979 to assist deserving students in furthering their education in working with disabled children.

Written requests for applications should be set to Education Committee, c/o Newtown Inc, PO Box 101, Newtown CT 06570-1010.
