First Selectman Dan Rosenthal is inviting the community to learn firsthand about plans to acquire an existing commercial building formerly housing Taunton Press offices, adjacent to the Newtown landfill at 191 South Main Street.

If the acquisition is approved, the modified building will become the new location for the Newtown Police Headquarters.

The first official discussion about that project will take place June 26 during a Special Board of Selectmen meeting, which begins at 7:30 pm in the Council Chamber of the Newtown Municipal Center.

Visit newtownbee.com to keep up to date as this project develops, or get all the details from this meeting in the June 29 print edition of The Newtown Bee.
