Services For Blind Receive Grant
STAMFORD â Voluntary Services for the Blind of Fairfield County has received a one-year, $5,000 grant from the Fairfield County Community Foundation to help support the agencyâs volunteer recruitment and retention expenses.
Voluntary Services for the Blind is celebrating ten years of service to the visually impaired of Fairfield County. Founded in 1993 and designated a Daily Point of Light in 2001 by the Points of Light Foundation, the organization seeks to improve the quality of life for visually handicapped residents of Fairfield County by providing them with volunteer drivers, shoppers, readers, clerical assistants, and friendly visitors. The organization has no paid employees.
Since its inception, volunteers have spent more than 50,000 hours in direct service to persons with visual impairment. For more information on volunteering, or receiving services, call 203-324-6611.
