Have you made plans yet for summer camp? The Sandy Hook Arts Center for Kids (SHACK) has a number of options planned. The SHACK, in Suite 104 at 100 Church Hill Road, will offer seven weeks of art, music and theatre-based summer activities with special projects each day.

Each week will focus on a special theme with arts and crafts based around that theme. Most Fridays at 6 pm, children will perform an open-air outdoor theater production. Families may bring their own food and drinks or get take-out from any of our local Sandy Hook businesses and enjoy theatre under the sky performed by their children. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen and bug spray!

During the daytime session of programming, children will enjoy outdoor playtime, an area for children to eat lunch, nature trail hikes, splatter art and play fun, and cool water games. Children are encouraged to “dress the part” for each week’s theme. Special guests will visit The SHACK each week.

The summer sessions are open to children ages 5-12 years, and includes the cost of supplies. Children should bring their own lunch, drink and snacks.

Sessions will run from 9 am until noon, noon to 3 pm or 3-6 pm each day; parents can sign their children up for just the morning, just the afternoon, or the full day.

Cost for half-day (morning or afternoon) session is $150 per week, while the cost for the full day session is $275. Extended play is available until 6 pm for an additional $75. There is a 10% sibling discount. All class costs include materials.
