Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued By Weather Service

The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Fairfield County, along with Westchester County in southeast New York, eastern Bergen County in northeast New Jersey, and Rockland County in southeast New York. The warning is in effect until 10:30 am.

At 9:40 am EDT, the NWS Doppler Radar indicated a line of heavy showers capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. “These storms were located along a line extending from Peekskill to Oradell, or along a line extending from Peekskill to Ridgewood, and moving east at 25 mph,” according to the warning.

Meanwhile, a Wind Advisory remains in effect Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties, along with Nassau and Suffolk counties in New York. This advisory has been in effect since 5 am, and will remain active until 4 pm this afternoon.
