Silent Films As Fundraiser, November 11 At ETH; Piano Accompaniment By Ben Model

Merryhill Child Care Center and Edmond Town Hall will present a fun, unique, family-friendly silent films fundraiser event on Sunday, November 11.

Doors open at 3 pm, and the show will start at 4 pm with an introduction by pianist Ben Model, a renowned silent film accompanist. Mr Model will be performing original piano scores during the four films that will be screened. He will also will conduct a Q&A after the films.

The film line-up includes Ask Father, a ten-minute offering from 1919 starring Harold Lloyd as a man who wants to get married but needs to go through some crazy physical stunts in order to get permission from the father of his girlfriend; the 8-minute Fleischer cartoon Fadeaway (1926), in which Ko-Ko the Clown gets stuck in a strange land where everything keeps disappearing; The Scarecrow (1920), starring Buster Keaton, who needs just 20 minutes to have adventures down on the farm; and Wrong Again (1929), a 22-minute release in which Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy deliver a horse to a millionaire.

The total film running time will be approximately 65 minutes.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 12 and under, and can be purchased in advance at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, or at the door on the day of the event. Proceeds will benefit Merryhill Child Care Center and Edmond Town Hall.

The Buster Keaton film The Scarecrow and the Laurel and Hardy short Wrong Again are two of the four films organizers are planning to screen during a special silent film fundraiser being planned for November 11 at Edmond Town Hall.
