BROOKFIELD — Last Sunday, Theatre Arts & Opportunities Foundation’s InsideOut Youth Theater program, from Bridgeport, traveled to Brookfield to see Annie Jr, a performance by The Brookfield Theatre for the Arts Spotlight Program. They were enthralled and inspired.

Taking it all in, the InsideOut players enjoyed the show immensely as it amped up their enthusiasm to appear on the same stage. The InsideOut team will be performing its production of Every Little Bit on Sunday, June 9, at 2 pm. Donations are welcomed, and will benefit the youth theater program.

Creating and rehearsing this original play, the players have been working hard since January to bring it to the stage.

Every Little Bit is an original work that was developed by the students and written by the director; it carries the message that even just one quarter can make a difference. The production features two original pieces.

Another original piece was influenced by the Color a Positive Thought Foundation, led by Harry Bell. Mr Bell is the creator of a series of children’s coloring books that offer a message of empowerment, inclusion, and good character.

To create this piece, the youth theater students spoke to the way certain colors make them feel, and skits were created from these thoughts. Some of the short plays were written specifically for the youth group by members of the Actors and Playwrights program at Garner CI in Newtown. In this way, these skits contain a mentoring message around making good choices and being a compassionate citizen.

Interspersed among these pieces is a whole lot of dancing and singing.

As InsideOut closes its spring session, there is no better way to celebrate than to share their efforts and talents.

The Brookfield Theater for the Arts is at 184 Whisconier Road (Route 25) in Brookfield Center.
