Snowy Weather Did Not Bury Destination Newtown

Despite the swirling snow outside, the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown’s 9th annual Destination Newtown proceeded November 7 in the cozy confines of Rock Ridge Country Club’s banquet room and lobby.

Representatives from Newtown Savings Bank, the event’s title sponsor, greeted attendees at the door with a new scratch-off game that provided participants with chances to win bank-branded products.

A VIP Networking Reception kicked off the afternoon with welcoming remarks from Chamber President Tim Haas of Haas Insurance. Other speakers included John Wanzer of Charter Business, the reception sponsor, and Newtown Savings Bank President & CEO John Trentacosta.

The sponsors introduced the keynote speaker, Linda T. Gottlieb, who kept attendees motivated and positive with her presentation titled, “What’s Good for your Waistline is Good for Your Bottom Line.”

The event also featured the popular Taste of Newtown, providing attendees with samples of culinary favorites from several local restaurants and food service operations.

Taking part this year were My Place Restaurant, Tambascio’s Italian Grille, One Eyed Pig, Sal e Pepe Contemporary Italian Bistro, Fusion 25, Butcher’s Best Market, Masonicare at Newtown, Franco’s, Mona Lisa Restaurant, Maplewood at Newtown, Carminuccio’s, and The Inn at Newtown.

Attendees also got a chance to relax with a free chair massage from Carolyn Landgrebe Massage Therapy, and to enter a raffle for a chance to win more than 15 donated prizes.
