Through Sunday, Edmond Town Hall is offering a special return engagement of Elf, a 2003 comedy-fantasy-romance starring Saturday Night Live alum Will Ferrell.

Screenings began on December 17, but will continue through Sunday, December 23.

Evening shows are being offered through Thursday, December 20, at 7 pm; Friday and Saturday, December 22, at 7 and 9 pm; and then Sunday, December 23, at 7 pm.

Matinees are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, December 22-23, at 1 and 3 pm each afternoon.

Tickets for all shows are $3 each.

In this film directed by Jon Favreau, audiences meet Buddy (Will Ferrell), who was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood by Santa’s elves.

Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father, who turns out to be a cynical businessman (James Caan). Buddy also experiences the delights of New York City as only an elf can, while trying to bond with his father and new family.

The film also features Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen, Bob Newhart, and Ed Asner, with appearances by Faizon Love, Amy Sedaris, and Peter Dinklage.

The film has a running time of 1 hour, 37 minutes and is rated PG for “some mild rude humor and language” (Motion Picture Association of America).

Upon its release, the film was celebrated by film critic Roger Ebert as being “one of those rare Christmas comedies that has a heart, a brain, and a wicked sense of humor, and it charms the socks right off the mantelpiece.”
