Sunday Afternoon Garden Walks At Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden

BETHLEHEM — Connecticut Landmarks is hosting Sunday Afternoon Garden Walks at the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden. One Sunday each month, from May to September, visitors can enjoy a leisurely and informative stroll through the parterre garden, designed by the Ferridays beginning in 1915. The garden exhibits heirloom roses, lilacs, peonies and other fragrant blooms. The walks are led by the museum’s Master Gardener, horticultural staff and special guests.

This season’s walks will begin at 2 pm and on the following dates with the following programs: May 16, “Spring Flowering Trees and Shrubs,” to be led by site horticulturist George McCleary; June 20, “Roses, Roses, Roses”; July 18, “Gardening for the Five Senses,” with celebrated horticulturist and garden writer Tovah Martin; August 15, “Native Ornamental Plants In the Designed Landscape”; and September 19, “Fall Season Bouquet.”

Cost is $7 ($5 for CTL members, or free for Historic Garden members). The first walk will be led by site horticulturist, George McCleary, on May 16th where participants will learn about the many lovely spring and early summer flowering trees and shrubs in the Ferriday Garden and tips on their care and pruning.
