To the Editor:

I wanted to formally thank Michelle Hiscavich, music department chair; Jane Matson, music teacher and director of this year’s play; Dr Kim Longobucco, principal; and the HS PTSA for a delicious dinner and all the amazing, Broadway quality performers and stage crew of this year’s show, Mary Poppins.

Each year, they invite the senior citizens of our community to attend the rehearsal performance along with dinner, for free. There were 150 very happy and appreciative people in attendance. The acting, the singing, the stage props, all were very well done. Flying Mary Poppins, Burt, and Jane and her brother, Michael, all went off without a hitch.

I am so grateful that Ms Hiscavich reached out to me to organize this. Two more upcoming events for seniors: Tuesday, March 26, at 4 pm, the Reed Intermediate School is offering a free concert to seniors in their cafetorium and on Thursday, April 4, at Newtown Middle School, a free performance of Beauty and the Beast, 3:15 pm, at the Middle School cafeteria for complimentary hot tea, coffee, finger foods, and dessert, rehearsal of the play to follow.

RSVP for Beauty and the Beast to krismpowers3@gmail.com or call Newtown Middle School at 203-426-7642. More fun events to follow!

Thank you again.
