Thank You To World War II Veterans

To the Editor:

June 6th marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day. About 300 veterans are making the same trip they did in 1944, sailing from Dover, England to the northern coast of France, to Normandy. More than 150,000 troops were part of the initial landing.

This began the Allies’ military operations to liberate France from German occupation. By July 4th, an estimated one million troops had been landed. Soon, the fighting would extend throughout Europe.

Set aside some time this weekend to watch Band of Brothers.

If you have the distinct honor of knowing a living World War II veteran, thank them for saving the world.
