Thanksgiving Holiday Closings, Early Deadlines

Town and other entities will be affected next week by the Thanksgiving holiday. So will deadlines for your hometown newspaper.

All town offices will be closed on Thursday, November 22, and Friday, November 23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The transfer station at 4 Ethan Allen Road will be closed both days; it will reopen on Saturday on its regular schedule (7 am to 3 pm).

Newtown Senior Center and Cyrenius H. Booth Library will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The senior center will reopen on Monday at 8 am, and the town library will reopen on Saturday at 9:30 am.

Schools also will be closed Thursday and Friday. Public schools will have early dismissal on Wednesday, November 25.

The United States Postal Service will not be making deliveries on Thursday.

The offices of The Newtown Bee will be closed on Thursday and Friday. We will reopen at 8 am, Monday, November 27.

The print edition of November 23, 2018, will be printed and mailed the afternoon of Wednesday, November 22. Because of this, many of the paper’s deadlines will be 24 hours earlier than usual.

All editorial deadlines will be one business day earlier than usual.

Letters to the editor must be received no later than 3 pm on Tuesday, November 20, for publication in the November 23 print edition of the paper. Obituaries must be received by 9 am on Wednesday.

Copy for display and classified advertising must be received by our office as follows: Real Estate Display and regular display: 10 am, Friday, November 16; Real Estate Classified ads (In-Column), 10 am, Monday, November 19; and regular (In-Column) Classifieds, 1 pm, Tuesday, November 20.
