The foursomes of Ed Sidlowsky, John Piorkowski, Charlie Walsh and Bob Melvin (gross) and Jack Paulin, Austin Schraff, Elmer MacDonald and Bill Hamilton (net) were the winners of the Newtown Country Club’s recent one-day member guest tournament.

The low gross winning score was 61 while the low net winning score was 48. The winners took home $55 each.

Other low net finishers were the foursomes of Bob Woodies, John Anderson, John Anderson Jr., and John Silverstein (2nd place, 49, $40 each); John Rohmer, Walt Spitzmiller, Dick Thomas and Bill Tarbe (3rd place, 51, $30 each); and Bill Lavery, Bill Carroll, Jankovsky and Ron Sullivan (4th place, 52, $20 each).

Schraff, of the Connecticut Golf Club, also aced the par-3 8th hole during the tournament.

In the Ladies Member-Guest, the twosomes of Sue Paulin and Mary Lou Czaplicki (gross) and Sue Wiston and Ellie Fiorita (net) captured first. The low gross winning score was 77 while the low net winning score was 57.

Paulin and Czaplicki won $50 each while Wiston and Fiorita won $70 each.

Other low-net finishers were Grace Johnson and Gilda Pavlech (2nd place, 57, $60 each); Pam Sidlowsky and Anne Carlson (3rd place, 57, $40 each); and Sally Mirabelli and Dawn Hill (4th place, 58, $30 each).
