Theodore Frank “Ted” Haynos, 83, of Newtown, died October 6, at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by his immediate family. He was born in New York City in 1935 to the late Blanche and Frank Haynos. He was a longtime Newtown resident who loved living away from the hustle and bustle of New York city life.

He will be greatly missed by his three children, Susan Henke and her husband, Bob, of Tustin Ranch, Calif., Judith Haynos and her partner, Christina Lundquist, of Boston, Mass., and Matthew Haynos and his wife, Jennifer, of Ridgefield; and by four grandchildren, Alex Lawrence and his wife, Ella, of London, U.K., Edward Henke of Berkeley, Calif., and Aaron and Peter Haynos of Ridgefield, who survive him.

His loving daughter, Karen; his wife, Agnes; and his stepfather, Walter Fostiak, predeceased him.

Mr Haynos graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and received both his undergraduate and business graduate degrees from New York University. During this time there, he met his wife, Agnes, and began raising their family. He had a long, distinguished, career at IBM as a statistician, retiring after 43 years. His career included numerous management positions as well as living internationally in Stockholm, Sweden; Hampshire, England; and Paris, France.

He was an active member of the Newtown community, serving on the Newtown Board of Education as well as the Concerned Taxpayer Committee for many years. He was also fond of the Newtown music scene, particularly watching the Newtown High School marching band and orchestras when his children were of school age. He was a member of St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Newtown. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be missed by all who knew him for his wisdom, kindness, generosity, and good humor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 27, at noon, at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.
