Thomas Joseph Keegan, Sr, 89, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Arlene R. Keegan, died peacefully March 30, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Ruth and Thomas Keegan, he was raised in Easton and had been a Fairfield resident since 1956.

His seven beloved children and their spouses, Anne-Marie Keegan and Gregg Reinhart of Newtown, Thomas J., Jr, and Patti Keegan of Fairfield, Terrence W. and Gail Keegan of Fairfield, Maureen and Jeff Ahlberg of Southbury, Peggy C. and Karen Keegan of Boston, Patrick G. Keegan of Atlanta, and Colleen M. Keegan-de la Peña and Victor Hugo of Fairfield; 19 cherished grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Darlyne Keegan of Oahu, Hawaii; a first cousin; and several nieces and nephews survive him.

A brother, William D. Keegan; and a sister, Barbara Keegan, predeceased him.

Mr Keegan was the first student to be signed up and enrolled at Fairfield Prep and a member of first four-year graduating class in 1946. He was a 1950 graduate of Georgetown University where he enrolled in ROTC. He received a BA degree in political science and was commissioned a secon lieutenant in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of captain. Mr Keegan was the owner and broker of Fairfield County Real Estate in Fairfield since 1952. He was a past president of the Fairfield Board of Realtors, on the Board of the Connecticut Girl Scouts of America, and a member of the Patterson Club, the Algonquin Club, and the Quechee Club in Vermont. A longtime parishioner of St Pius X Church, he served on the school building committee. Mr Keegan was a founder and chairman of the Board of Citizens National Bank. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew him as a loving and dedicated husband and father who always placed the needs of his family first.

The Keegan family wishes to thank Regional Hospice for its help and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 4, at 10:30 am, meeting directly at St Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Entombment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Following the cemetery there will be a reception to celebrate Mr Keegan's life for all those who would like to join.
